Horse Camps

Is your child curious about or in love with horses?

Our Horse Camps and Lessons are geared towards children ages 8+ at the beginner and intermediate skill levels, and focuses on growing your child's ability and level of comfort around our horses. They will have the experience of being immersed in all things horses from grooming, care, feed, safety and of course riding!

We keep our Horse Camp and Lesson class sizes small, (only 6 children will be assigned to each of our 2 riding instructors) so don't wait to reserve your spot!

In the Summertime, Haven Farms takes on a whole new vibe. The entire farm transforms into a loud, fun, boisterous kids playground. There is nothing better than getting to spend the day outside breathing deep, learning about Jesus, laughing, growing and spending time with our animals. We love our animals so much that we have over 100 of them! Some are true farm animals, but many of them love to be loved on by our guests. If you are looking for a safe, educational and inspiring place for your kids to spend time this Summer, with counselors that encourage new skills and interaction with nature, you are in the right place!

We are located in Hazel Green, AL and are only 30 minutes from Huntsville, Madison & Athens. Even though we’re quite close to the city, we have quite a bit of space to stretch our legs around here! Haven Farms sits on 95 acres of land, and we have worked hard to create a safe space not only for our animals, but also for the kids and visitors that spend time here. Haven Farms is a place where curiosity can grow and a love of nature can take root!

Beginner 1

If you have ever wanted to pet or ride a horse this is the course for you. We introduce you to horses and explain how horses feel, think and act. You will learn protocols, how to manage a horse on the ground and how to saddle your own horse. We also ride, ride, ride! Your horse becomes your partner, and you play and ride and learn how to be a good leader. No experience necessary! Everyone has a different skill set and level of confidence. Instructors will work with individuals and with small groups. You can do more than one beginner camp as repetition builds confidence and gives a chance to develop the muscle memory each student needs to advance.

Beginner 2

This camp is an extension of the previous beginner camps. We will see a farrier shoe and trim  a horses hooves. We will practice our riding skills and start trotting and maybe a canter. We will play fun games with the horses that make learning to ride simple and fun. We will study the differences between trotting and gaited and pacing horses. We will develop the confidence and competence to ride bareback.

Intermediate

This week will be filled with hard work and fun to move towards our goals with horses. We will be focusing on learning about different disciplines within the horse world. Your child will build on their previous experience to become adapt at trotting, cantering, and maybe a small jump or learning the barrel racing pattern!

If you want to see our facilities prior to your child's camp week
we
will have a few different dates for you to do that.
